Kevin Beasley and Diane planning Portland to Lake Worth Art Drive 2019

Kevin Beasley and his Mom drove a UHAUL from Portland to Lake Worth, arriving the night before Christmas Eve 2019.

What was in the UHAUL you ask? Why Diane Freaney’s Portland Art Collection, quite valuable and uninsured. YIKES!

A stealth operation.

First - Kevin makes a visual inventory of the Art for the IRS in case the UHAUL was hijacked and the Art spirited away. Diane will want a tax deduction for her loss.

Departure time was near and Mom's plane was late. Kevin was pacing.

Two people were needed to load the UHAUL.

Mom’s plane landed at Portland International(PDX) and Mom took a cab to the Emerson Street House. Kevin and Mom loaded the UHAUL and got on the ROAD, Kevin driving and Mom riding shotgun.

Kevin decided to take the Northern Route stopping at places of interest along the way. Crazy thought Diane - in the dead of winter?

First stop - Evel Knievel Snake River Canyon Jump Site - kinda boring. Evel Knievel’s Jump was in 1973 and he died in 1973 from complications of diabetes and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, probably from working in a copper mine in Montana.

The Northern Route from Portland Oregon to Lake Worth Florida

On the road again, Kevin and Mom decided to forego the Tourist attractions and power on through. Mom had to be on the job the day before Christmas Eve and Kevin was watching the weather. VERY Cold with light powdery show. The winds cleared the roads quickly, making easy passage for the UHAUL. The perfect weather might not last much longer.

Frequent stops at Roadside Diners for gas, strong coffee and food. A jar of Peanut Butter and a loaf of White bread for snacking while driving.

Kevin called Diane from Orlando and said he would be in early the next morning the day before Christmas Eve.

Diane waited. She called Kevin’e phone. No answer. Three days on the Northern Route Kevin always checked in. Now he was back in civilization and NO WORD.

What’s up anyway?

Kevin locked his keys and his phone in the UHAUL. A problem Kevin needed to solve.

Kevin and the UHAUL rolled in around 4:00 PM the night before Christmas Eve.
